Tottenham Hotspur FC completed the loan signing of Villarreal forward Arnaut Danjuma. Spurs signs him just days after he was on the verge of joining Everton.
Danjuma will join Everton without a manager on Tuesday. Despite the dismissal of Frank Lampard, whom is instrumental in the deal, the transfer was still expected to go ahead.
In a remarkable turn of events, the 25-year-old Dutch international unexpectedly flew to London to meet with Tottenham. And he has now finalized his transfer to Antonio Conte’s squad.
Tottenham Hotspur FC have the option to purchase Danjuma once his loan period expires at the end of the season.
His arrival in north London will bolster Conte’s attacking options, as Heung-Min Son, Dejan Kulusevski, Richarlison, and Lucas Moura have all been sidelined with injuries this season.
Spurs are boosted by the news that Danjuma will be able to play in the Champions League. They face AC Milan in the last 16, with the first of two legs taking place on February 14.
Danjuma had decided to join Everton despite there being more lucrative offers and interest elsewhere. He is well aware of the club’s Premier League challenge despite the club’s off-field turmoil. But he wanted to put himself to the test and take risks.
Danjuma’s decision to abandon the move to Goodison Park was made easier by the timing of Lampard’s dismissal and the uncertainty of his replacement.
Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest were also interested in signing Danjuma, who spent two years at the south coast club between 2019 and 2021 after Villarreal granted him permission to speak to clubs, sparking additional interest.
