Charlie Patino, an Arsenal youngster presently on loan at Swansea City, has stated his desire to build a name for himself at the Emirates Stadium.

The 19-year-old has been dubbed “one of the brightest talents to emerge from the Hale End academy,” and he scored on his senior debut for Arsenal in a 5-1 EFL Cup rout of Sunderland in December 2021.

Patino was then given his first Arsenal start in an FA Cup defeat to Nottingham Forest a few weeks later. It was before his being named to the bench for the Gunners’ final four Premier League games of the season.

The England Under-21 international was loaned out to Blackpool last season, where he impressed with three goals and four assists from 37 appearances, but he has not played for Mikel Arteta’s team since that defeat at the City Ground in January 2022.

Patino’s efforts were ineffective because Blackpool was demoted to the third division. However, the young player made a successful comeback to the Championship this summer with Swansea City. In nine appearances, he has already scored one goal and provided three assists.

Patino was thought to be on his way out of Arsenal permanently over the summer, as his chances of receiving regular game time over the likes of Thomas Partey, Declan Rice, Jorginho, Martin Odegaard, and Kai Havertz were slim.

Nonetheless, the Gunners recently exercised a 12-month extension option in Patino’s contract until the summer of 2025, and the 2003-born prodigy recently told the Daily Mail that he still hopes to play for Arsenal’s first team alongside fellow academy graduates Eddie Nketiah, Emile Smith Rowe, and Bukayo Saka.

“Everyone’s journey is unique. “Bukayo went straight from academy to first team, Eddie went on a few loans, Emile went on a few loans,” Patino explained.

“But, ultimately, it’s about getting where you want to go, and I’m the same way.” I want to play in the first team at Arsenal, and being here is a huge step toward that.”

Charlie Patino made his decision for Future

Despite Patino’s efforts, Swansea started the Championship season with four losses in their first five games. However, Michael Duff’s club went on a winning streak just before the break.

The Swans have won four games in a row to climb to 12th position in the table, and while Patino hopes to lead Swansea back into the top flight, he is aware that the physical part of his game must improve if he is to succeed in the Premier League.

“I want to keep racking up the points and assisting the team in reaching new heights.” Swansea is a major club with a rich history, they were in the Premier League a few years ago, and we want to get them back there,” Patino added.

“One of the main things I want to improve is my physicality.” I go in and do extra recuperation and gym workouts to improve as a player.

“I think it’s important because if I want to step up and be a Premier League player, the games are a lot quicker now and you have to be ready for one-v-one duels and battles that happen all over the pitch.”

Patino earned his England Under-21s debut in a Euro 2025 qualifier against Luxembourg last month, but he was an unused substitute in Thursday’s 9-1 thrashing of Serbia.
