Rice who moved to Emirates Stadium this summer. He has been recognized for his efforts for both West Ham United and us over the last year. He follows in the footsteps of Martin Odegaard, who was the recipient of this award the previous year.

Declan’s tenure at the Hammers finished on a high one, as he became only the second player after Bobby Moore to captain the club to a European Cup, when he played a key role in their UEFA Europa Conference League victory in June.

Since moving from east to north London the following month, he has scored four goals and provided six assists to quickly establish himself at Emirates Stadium, scoring last-gasp winners against Manchester United and Luton Town, as well as a Goal of the Month contender on his return to the London Stadium earlier this month.

He overcame Guglielmo Vicario and Pedro Porro of Tottenham in the prize competition.

He also surpassed former and current colleagues Jarrod Bowen and William Saliba, for the award.

Declan remarked on stage at the event: “I’ve loved every single moment of my time at Arsenal since I came through the doors. I was at West Ham for ten years, and there was such a tremendous change in the environment, life, a different manager, and other pals, so I decided to just go there and be myself.

“As the games progressed, I wanted to maintain my confidence and give my best for the squad. So far, we’ve been doing well, and hopefully we’ll have a wonderful season finale.

“There have been so many amazing moments thus far, but given the importance of the game, I believe the goal versus United was the finest. It was my first goal for Arsenal; Garnacho had one ruled out for offside five minutes earlier.”

“Then, I took one off my chin and placed it in the back of the net, so I was pleased with that one. “That was the best moment so far.”
