Diogo Jota has received the Premier League Player of the Month title for January.
The Liverpool forward wins the individual award for the first time in his career, following a fantastic month in which he helped the Reds win three out of three league games.
Jota scored twice and set up another in a 4-0 win over AFC Bournemouth, after providing an assist as a substitute in Newcastle United’s 4-2 victory.
And the Portuguese’s remarkable run continued as he opened the score with a move and finish as Chelsea lost 4-1 at Anfield.
Jota defeated colleague Conor Bradley, Elijah Adebayo (Luton Town), Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City), Gabriel Magalhaes (Arsenal), and Richarlison (Tottenham Hotspur) to win.
After returning from injury at the end of December, the Portuguese came off the bench to assist in a 4-2 triumph over Newcastle United on New Year’s Day, before scoring twice and setting up another goal as the Reds thrashed Bournemouth, 4-0.
He subsequently scored in a 4-1 victory over Chelsea, his fifth goal of the month and the most of any Premier League player, as Liverpool maintained their lead over Manchester City and Arsenal.
Jota led a six-man shortlist that includes Elijah Adebayo, Kevin De Bruyne, Gabriel Magalhaes, Richarlison, and teammate Conor Bradley.
Diogo Jota is the second Liverpool player to win the accolade this season, following Mohamed Salah’s victory in October.
Jota won when the public’s votes on the EA SPORTS website were merged with those of a panel of football experts.
