Chelsea poised to pay £12.5 million for New England Revolution goalkeeper Djorde Petrovic, plus £1.5 million in add-ons; Serb to undergo Chelsea physical this week; and talks with Fulham over the sale of Callum Hudson-Odoi have stopped.
Chelsea have completed a £14 million deal with the New England Revolution to sign goalkeeper Djorde Petrovic. The goalkeeper will have a medical with the Blues this week.
The Blues will pay the MLS club an initial cost of £12.5 million, with additional £1.5 million in performance-related bonuses.
He must register by Thursday at noon in order to be available for Chelsea’s game against Luton Town on Friday.
However, that appears tough – but not impossible – given the work permit and visa processes that must be completed.
Petrovic is likely to join fellow goalkeeper Robert Sanchez. Sanchez recently joined Chelsea from Brighton in a £25 million transfer earlier this summer.
The 23-year-old has been a standout for the New England Revolution this season, keeping seven clean sheets in 22 MLS appearances.
Chelsea has already bought eight players this summer for a total of £350 million.
