Eder Militao pens new Real Madrid contract

Eder Militao signed a new contract with Real Madrid.

Real Madrid has announced that Eder Militao has signed a new contract at the Bernabeu, with the centre-back’s contract now running until the end of the 2027-28 season.
Since joining Los Blancos from Porto in 2019, the 26-year-old has made 143 appearances, scoring 11 goals and assisting five times.

Militao was not a regular in his first two seasons at the Bernabeu, but he became first choice at the start of the 2021-22 season and has impressed for the Spanish club in the last two seasons.

However, the Brazil international has only made one appearance this season after suffering a serious knee injury during the team’s La Liga opener against Athletic Bilbao in August.

At the time, there were concerns that his ACL injury would keep him out for the rest of the season, but he has accelerated his recovery in recent weeks and is expected to play before the season ends.

Eder Militao and Real Madrid are together

Real Madrid has now confirmed Militao’s future, with the defender’s new contract at the Bernabeu set to expire in June 2028.

“Real Madrid C. F. and Eder Militao have agreed to extend the player’s contract with the club until June 30, 2028,” read a statement on the capital club’s official website.

“Militao joined Real Madrid in 2019, aged 21, and in his five seasons wearing our jersey he’s become one of the best centre-backs in the world.”

However, Militao’s injury prevented him from winning the Spanish Super Cup this season.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side was eliminated from the Copa del Rey by Atletico Madrid last week, but they are aiming for success in two more competitions this season: La Liga and the Champions League.

Los Blancos defeated Almeria in a controversial comeback win in La Liga on Sunday, moving them to second place in the table, one point behind leaders Girona, who have played one more game.

Real Madrid will play four more games in La Liga, including a home game against Girona on February 10, before travelling to RB Leipzig for the first leg of their Champions League last-16 match on February 13.
