West Ham agrees to sign Kalvin Phillips on Loan

West Ham have agreed to sign Kalvin Phillips on loan until the end of the season, with the option of making the transfer permanent in the summer.

The midfielder for Manchester City is likely to complete the transfer in the next few days. He is returning to the UK after participating in the mid-season training camp of the treble winners in the United Arab Emirates.

Standard Sport has learned that West Ham has agreed to a deal with a buyout option, despite the initial expectation that Phillips would depart on a straight loan this month.

The England international will have a medical at Rush Green later this week and, barring any unexpected developments, will be ready to make his Premier League debut when the Hammers face Bournemouth next week.

The deal is a major coup for David Moyes, who has long admired the 28-year-old and failed to sign him from Leeds for £50 million two years ago this month.

Phillips moved to the Etihad Stadium six months later, but he has only made two Premier League starts since and is desperate for regular playing time ahead of this summer’s Euro 2024, with Gareth Southgate warning his players that if they do not play regularly, they will miss out on selection.
