The midfielder scored five goals in four games for Japan, earning her the tournament’s only non-European award winner. Sweden eliminated them in the quarter-finals.

Miyazawa most recently played in Northern Japan for WE League club Mynavi Sendai, which she joined in 2021.

“I am truly very happy to be a part of this wonderful family and this great team,” Miyazawa remarked. “I am very excited to get started and hope that my style of play will excite our fans.”

“Hinata joins our United family having proven her qualities at the highest level,” Manchester United manager Marc Skinner stated.

“As her Golden Boot win at this summer’s Women’s World Cup demonstrated, her direct style of play and ability to find the most dangerous spaces will excite our fantastic fans.” We can’t wait to see her progress within our playing squad.”

Polly Bancroft, head of women’s football, added, “After this summer’s Women’s World Cup, Hinata’s attacking quality speaks for itself.” We are happy to have her join Manchester United and European football.”

The transfer window for women is still open until September 14. Following her excellent performance at the World Cup, Manchester United recently rejected a world-record proposal for a goalie for Mary Earps.
