Hugo Ekitiké and Marco Verratti have both been left out of Paris Saint-Germain’s roster for the Champions League group stages.

According to L’Équipe, PSG was unhappy at Ekitiké on transfer deadline day. The former Stade de Reims forward turned down a move to Eintracht Frankfurt, which appeared to have snubbed Randal Kolo Muani’s move to the Parc des Princes. Finally, the former FC Nantes striker joined Les Parisiens, although for a higher sum.

L’Équipe claims that Ekitiké’s unwillingness to transfer to Bundesliga hurt his chances of playing for PSG, at least temporarily.

RMC Sport claims that Luis Enrique and Luis Campos informed the France youth international earlier this summer that he was unnecessary for the team.

Hugo Ekitiké is not part of PSG’s group-stage lineup in this particular case. Also brought up to UEFA was Verratti’s omission from the list.

After being advised that he was likewise surplus to requirements, the experienced Italian midfielder was expected to leave the club. He could still move.

Verratti has connections to Al-Arabi, and the transfer window in Qatar is still open till September 18.

Keylor Navas, who was anticipated to depart PSG, has also been called up, as has Presnel Kimpembe, who is working his way back to fitness after a long injury.
