N’Golo Kante is on his way to Al-Ittihad! Chelsea star will sign a €100 million-per-year contract to join Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema in the Saudi Pro League.
N’Golo Kante is near to sign €100m a season contract with Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ittihad, ending his seven-year stint at Chelsea.
On Monday, it was announced that Saudi officials had traveled to London for negotiations with Kante, with Fabrizio Romano stating that a deal is now nearing conclusion. Kante is likely to earn €200 million (£172.1 million/$213.8 million) over the next two years with Al-Ittihad.
At his new club, which won the league last season, he will team up with former Real Madrid talisman Karim Benzema. During the 2023-24 season, the pair will compete for honours against Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr.
Kante will leave Stamford Bridge having cemented his place as a Chelsea legend. In his first season at the club, he helped the Blues win the Premier League championship in 2017. He also earned player-of-the-match honors in the 2021 Champions League final against Manchester City.
On Tuesday, Al-Ittihad officials came in London to finalize Kante’s new contract with representatives from Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund. Four prestigious teams in the country, including the winners, are currently applied to the fund.
