Nicolas Pepe will have a physical with Trabzonspor after leaving Arsenal for a fee of £72 million.
After four years with the Emirates, the Ivory Coast winger will aim to restart his career in Turkey.
Arsenal winger Nicolas Pepe has visited Turkey as he nears a transfer to Trabzonspor.
The two teams were finalizing the conditions of a trade on Friday morning, as Pepe’s miserable time in north London came to an end.
The Ivory Coast international has one year left on his Arsenal contract and is not in manager Mikel Arteta’s plans.
Pepe spent last season on loan at Nice, and Arsenal have been attempting to offload him all summer.
He was unable to find a move before the transfer season closed across much of Europe on September 1, but the Turkish market remains open until next week, providing him with a lifeline.
Pepe has already travelled to Trabzon and made a video while wearing the club’s shirt during the flight.
“I came here to become a champion and to achieve success,” he explained.
Pepe, who joined Arsenal from Lille for a then-club-record cost of £72 million in 2019, is scheduled to have a physical with Trabzonspor on Friday.
In total, the player made 112 appearances for the Gunners across all competitions in four years, scoring 27 goals.
