Real Madrid is reportedly ready to pay an outrageous €1 billion for Paris Saint-Germain and France superstar Kylian Mbappe.
Real Madrid really wants Kylian Mbappe?
Mbappe, who is still only 24, won the Golden Boot award at the 2022 World Cup after becoming the first player in 56 years to score a hat-trick in the final.
He scored eight goals in the competition, following up on his four goals in France’s World Cup victory in 2018.
Real Madrid’s interest in Mbappe has been well documented, and the club appeared to be on the verge of securing his signature on a free transfer in the summer of 2021.
In the summer of 2021, they had already submitted three offers, the highest of which was €200 million.
To many people’s surprise, Mbappe then committed his future to PSG by signing a new valuable two-year contract with a third year option.
He even expressed gratitude to Real supporters and expressed hope that they understood his decision to remain in Paris.
But the former Monaco man has looked every bit the Real Madrid player since bursting onto the scene, and it appears president Florentino Perez will go to any length to get him to play for Los Blancos.
The 14-time European champions are willing to pay a total fee of £877 million over a four-year period.
Wages, estimated to be £552 million, as well as a £132 million transfer fee and other signing on and commission fees, would account for a sizable portion of the staggering sum.
Mbappe’s contract expires in 2024, and he can essentially walk away from PSG if he so desires, as the final year is entirely optional.
