Thomas Tuchel is planning a dramatic Premier League homecoming after leaving Bayern Munich in the summer to join Manchester United.

Following Bayern Munich’s decision to release him at the end of the current campaign, Thomas Tuchel intends to rejoin the Premier League. He has expressed interest in the Manchester United position.

The German manager of the Bundesliga’s biggest teams unexpectedly announced his resignation at the end of the current campaign.

Tuchel has been under increasing pressure during a terrible stretch, and there had been suggestions that he could be fired midseason. However, with the former Chelsea manager likely to be free in the summer, journalist Christian Falk says that he is eager to return to the English top flight.

Tuchel has “always” been interested in United and is eager to take on a “new challenge” after leaving Bayern.

Erik ten Hag, the Red Devils’ manager, has been far from convincing in his nearly 20 months in charge, mostly flattering to deceive with the most costly squad ever assembled.

Tuchel is keeping an eye on more than just United. Jurgen Klopp seems to leave Liverpool in the summer, and Bayern wants Xabi Alonso, who is their main target. The Telegraph reports that the German is monitoring the situation at Liverpool.

Tuchel is also a possible candidate for the England international position. It will only be possible if Gareth Southgate steps down after Euro 2024—though he hints to stay on.

If the move goes through, Tuchel managing elsewhere in the Premier League will undoubtedly be a disappointment for Chelsea fans. The German is still adored at Stamford Bridge for leading them to their second Champions League title and effectively navigating a difficult period following sanctions against then-owner Roman Abramovich.

Tuchel would benefit from recent comments from Man-Utd minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, whose acquisition finished on Tuesday. In a potential warning to Ten Hag and his team, the British millionaire hinted at the need to be “world-class”.
