Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly making progress in their pursuit of Genoa defender Radu Dragusin.

The North Londoners have been looking for a new centre-back since the beginning of the January transfer window.

Dragusin quickly became their top priority, with the Romanian international starring for Genoa since joining the Serie A club in the summer.

The Spurs were likely to sign the 21-year-old if they could agree on a fee with their Italian counterparts.

However, Dragusin’s agent publicly stated that his client was committed to staying in Genoa for the duration of the season.

In recent days, however, there has been speculation about rival interest from Bayern Munich, who are looking to add a fourth high-profile center-back to their ranks this month.

Despite being linked with Tottenham’s Eric Dier, Dragusin is a younger option with more potential, making him more appealing in the long run.

Nonetheless, according to Sky Sport Deutschland journalist Florian Plettenburg, Bayern have become outsiders in their pursuit of Dragusin.

The player and Spurs reportedly came to an agreement on a five-and-a-half-year contract. Alongside the proposal, Spurs seems to contribute €25 million (£21.49 million) plus add-ons.

Ange Postecoglou will now be hoping that the North Londoners’ hierarchy can finalize a deal soon to bring in competition for Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven.

Plettenberg goes on to say that Bayern are under the impression that they must match Spurs’ bid on Tuesday or risk losing Dragusin to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Despite their interest, Bayern has yet to make an official bid for Dragusin. Bayern appear to be approaching a critical day in their pursuit of one of their shortlisted players.

There have been no further developments in the case of Dier since last week, when Postecoglou insisted that the England international had missed the FA Cup with Burnley due to injury, rather than being in talks with Bayern.
