Aston Villa have reportedly extended manager Unai Emery’s contract until 2027, despite substantial interest in the Spaniard from teams such as Bayern Munich.

The 52-year-old Spaniard has made an impressive effect at Villa Park since signing from Villarreal in October 2022.

After taking over a team that was only one point above the relegation zone, Emery led them to seventh place and qualified for the Europa Conference League.

Villa earned 49 points from 25 games between his appointment and the end of last season, a record only surpassed by Manchester City, Arsenal, Manchester United, and Liverpool.

This time around, Villa are on track to qualify for the Champions League, sitting six points ahead of Tottenham with four games to go – albeit Spurs have two games in hand – and have advanced to the Europa Conference League semi-finals.

His remarkable body of work had led to offers from around Europe, including Bayern Munich, but, according to The Athletic, Emery has decided to devote his future to Villa, which is a significant boost for the club.

This is a setback for Bayern, who have already seen key targets Xabi Alonso and Julian Nagelsmann rule themselves out of contention after committing to Bayer Leverkusen and Germany, respectively.

According to Sky Germany, the German giants are ready to hire former Manchester United temporary manager Ralf Rangnick, despite his problems at Old Trafford.

According to the article, Bayern have already begun talks with Rangnick, who has impressed since taking over as Austria manager in 2022.

When questioned on Sunday following Villa’s 3-1 win over Bournemouth, Emery appeared to dismiss links to Bavaria, saying: ‘I am focused here, 100 percent.’

According to the Athletic, Villa are hoping to discuss an even longer contract with Emery in the summer, as owners Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens, who have invested heavily in recent years, believe the Spaniard can become their own Sir Alex Ferguson at United.

Emery has a fantastic 44-win record in 77 games as manager of the Villans.

He has contributed to the development of an extremely good team and the improvement of numerous individuals, including Ollie Watkins, who has 38 goals in 47 games across all competitions this season.

Emery, who replaced Steven Gerrard, has four Europa League crowns and seven trophies from his two years at PSG.

The 52-year-old has previously managed Valencia, Sevilla, Spartak Moscow, Almeria, Lorca Deportiva, and Arsenal.

Villa resume to league action on Sunday against Chelsea, and they will meet Olympiacos in the Europa Conference League semi-finals next month, with Emery hoping to lead the club to its first trophy since 1996.
