Vini Jr. will continue to speak out against racism in international soccer. Even after receiving the Socrates Award for his off-field contributions at the ceremony on Monday, he will continue to work.

Vinicius, who is experiencing regular racial taunts during La Liga matches for the previous two seasons, won an award for founding a foundation that provides funding for the building of schools in Brazil and impoverished regions.

After accepting the prize from the Prince of Monaco, the Brazilian vowed to keep up her strong opposition to racism. “Talking about racism these days is a very sad thing.” “However, we must keep up the fight to lessen suffering for others.”

“Happy to help many children in Brazil and to receive this award. It is a pleasure for me to assist as many children as I can so they can have a chance, as I had little chance of getting where I have come from.”

After scoring 23 goals for Real Madrid across all competitions in the previous season, the 23-year-old was the only Brazilian in the top 10 of the Ballon d’Or rankings this year.

The forward participated in an emotional remembrance of Pele, the legendary Brazilian who passed away in December of last year at the age of 82.

“To me, Pelé is a god, and it is because of him that I am here today. Because of his incredible legacy, Brazilian players are respected and he elevated Brazil to a new level,” Vinicius remarked.

Established in 2020, the Vini Jr. Institute seeks to leverage football’s widespread appeal to support innovative approaches to teaching and learning in Brazilian public schools.

The project expects to benefit up to 15 schools, 10,000 students, and more than 500 teachers by 2023.
