The Netherlands international also impressed in the Champions League group stage, scoring twice and providing two assists in six appearances, and his form has reportedly drew a lot of attention.

Simons played for Barcelona during his youth career before moving to PSG in 2019, but he only appeared for the French club’s first team 11 times before being allowed to join PSV in the summer of 2022.

The youngster scored 22 goals and assisted 12 times in 48 appearances for PSV during the 2022-23 season, prompting PSG to exercise a buy-back option.

Manchester United are said to have tried to sign the Dutchman over the summer, with the English club’s head coach Erik ten Hag a huge fan.

However, he returned to PSG and signed a contract with the French giants until June 2027, before it was decided that he would spend the 2023-24 season on loan in Germany.

According to Bild, Arsenal is keeping a close eye on his form, and the Gunners are considered ‘a leading contender’ to sign him if PSG agrees to sell.

There have been reports that his long-term future in Paris is uncertain, with the Ligue 1 champions potentially willing to let him leave again for the right price.

Bayern Munich, Barcelona, and Inter Milan have all been linked with an interest, but Arsenal are believed to be in pole position heading into the summer transfer window.

Simons, who has 11 caps for the Netherlands, has demonstrated versatility this season by playing in a variety of positions.

The bulk of his football at club level this term has come as a right-sided attacker, but he has also operated down the left and through the middle.
