Gio Reyna is set to join Nottingham Forest on loan after talks with Sevilla fell through.

Gio Reyna is close to joining Nottingham Forest.

The midfielder has fallen down the pecking order at Dortmund under Edin Terzic, being relegated to a substitute role and receiving only a few minutes of playing time in each match, if any.

According to The Guardian, Gio will fly to England to complete the transfer after negotiations with the La-Liga club failed.

The Borussia Dortmund coach recently told the media: “Gio is a fantastic player.” Of course, he is unhappy when he is not playing. Gio demonstrated his ability to influence the game from the bench. He was very confident on the ball, created a few dangerous situations, but was a little unlucky with his finishing in one or two instances.”

The Dortmund manager went on to say that he hopes Gio Reyna stays and is available to him for the remainder of the season. “I have not heard anything else. Gio is under contract, and he is our player.”

Terzic’s refusal to acknowledge the possibility of the USMNT star leaving the club on loan raised concerns that the club would be unwilling to let Reyna leave on loan in January. However, the move is now nearing completion, with the deadline approaching quickly.

Previous rumors indicated that Fiorentina and Marseille were considering Reyna’s loan signing in addition to Sevilla.

The transfer window in England closes on February 1. Nottingham Forest must complete all documentation and signings by then to ensure the deal does not collapse. The 21-year-old is reportedly planning to fly to Nottingham later today.
