Jose Mourinho, the manager of Roma, is expected to leave the club at the end of the 2023-24 season.

Over the summer, Roma acquired a slew of important newcomers, including Houssem Aouar, Romelu Lukaku, Sardar Azmoun, Evan Ndicka, Rasmus Kristensen, Renato Sanches, and Leandro Paredes.

However, the Europa League runners-up have only won five of their first ten matches in all competitions this season, drawing two and losing three of their first eight Serie A games.

Mourinho’s players are 10th in Serie A with 11 points from 24 available, but they are second in Europa League Group G courtesy to back-to-back wins against Sheriff Tiraspol and Servette.

Mourinho’s career would have been in risk if Roma had lost to Cagliari before the international break, but he supervised a comfortable 4-1 triumph in that match two weekends ago.

Nonetheless, when asked if Mourinho would be given a contract extension at Stadio Olimpico, respected writer Gianluca Di Marzio told Sky Italia that a renewal was unlikely, and that the Portuguese would leave next summer amid reports of a move to Saudi Arabia.

“It won’t happen,” Di Marzio said when asked if Mourinho’s contract would be renewed. “There are no ongoing negotiations, and there have never been. As a result, they will split ways at the end of the deal in June.

“They [Saudi clubs] will certainly try again once Mourinho is free.” It will be interesting to see what Mourinho thinks about his future. Whether he wants to coach a new European club or travel there [to Saudi Arabia], the decision is his.”

It remains to be seen whether Mourinho will make the move to the Middle East as early as next year. However, the 60-year-old believes he will eventually coach a club in the Saudi Pro League.

Jose Mourinho to leave the Italian Giants?

The former Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur manager is in the final year of his deal with the Giallorossi, who have had a disappointing start to the new season.

Mourinho praised Al-Nassr’s Cristiano Ronaldo in a separate interview with elhekayashow for improving the “perspective” of the Saudi Pro League, which welcomed an infusion of recognized players from European clubs this summer.

“I’m focused on Roma, and I’ll give it my all until the day I leave.” Nobody knows what the future holds, but I am certain that I will coach in Saudi Arabia one day. “I don’t know when, but I know it’s something I’ll do,” Mourinho continued.

“I believe it is due to the Cristiano Ronaldo effect.” He was the first to arrive and alter the situation. It is demonstrated by the fact that the players who travel there are not at the end of their careers but rather in their prime. In Saudi Arabia, competition is fierce.”

Mourinho has a 50% win rate in charge of the Giallorossi after signing a three-year contract with the club in 2021, with 60 triumphs from 120 games, 27 draws, and 33 defeats.

The 60-year-old led Roma to Europa Conference League victory in his first season in charge, as well as to the final of the 2022-23 Europa League, where they were defeated on penalties by perennial winners Sevilla.
