LAFC has his MLS discovery rights, which means they have first preference to sign him over any other MLS club, demonstrating their sincerity in these negotiations.

Hugo Lloris, Giroud’s long-time France teammate, has joined LAFC for season. The center forward would lead an attack that already includes reigning MLS Golden Boot winner and fellow Frenchman Denis Bouanga, as well as Uruguay international Cristian Olivera. LAFC has reached consecutive MLS Cup finals, winning in 2022 after also collecting the Supporters’ Shield that year.

Giroud, 37, is having another good season with AC Milan this year. He has 12 goals and eight assists in 26 Serie A games (1,851 minutes). Milan currently ranks second in Serie A and will face AS Roma in the Europa League quarterfinals.

Since joining Milan from Chelsea in the summer of 2021, Giroud has been vital to Milan’s success, which included winning Serie A in his first season. He scored 46 goals throughout his stay in Italy.

Giroud is most recognized for his time at Arsenal, where he scored 105 goals and provided 41 assists in 253 Premier League matches. He broke through with Montpellier, leading the team to an improbable league title in 2011-12. He also won the Champions League and Europa League during his four seasons with Chelsea.

Giroud helped France reach the World Cup finals in 2018 and 2022, defeating Croatia in the former and falling to Lionel Messi’s Argentina on penalties in the latter.

Giroud has 56 goals in 129 caps for France. He continues to play for his country, having been called up for friendlies against Germany and Chile during the March international window.
