The Stockport-born academy product is experiencing his most productive season in a Citizens shirt, having scored 18 goals and provided 10 assists in 41 games across all competitions.

Foden, 23, has now made 258 senior appearances for Manchester City, including his debut in November 2017, scoring 78 goals and assisting 51 times.

The versatile attacker has 16 club trophies, including five Premier League crowns and one Champions League, and was a member of City’s record treble-winning group last season.

Foden was a remarkable performer in Manchester City’s 3-1 derby victory over Manchester United earlier this month, scoring twice, and was named the Premier League’s best player by manager Pep Guardiola following the game.

Foden’s contract with Manchester City was extended in October 2022 until the summer of 2027, and his pay were reportedly increased to roughly £200,000 per week.

Recent rumors have stated that Manchester City are set to initiate talks with the attacker about a new contract, but Football Insider believes the Citizens will not move forward with negotiations until the end of the current season.

It is understood that all sides are confident that a new long-term agreement may be reached this summer.

Foden is enjoying life at his boyhood club and has stated that he has thrived in a more central role under Guardiola this season.

“It’s the most constant game I’ve played. I’ve also been playing in a different position, more inside and middle, which I’m enjoying,” Foden told mancity.com.

“I’m enjoying the season and am in terrific form right now, so I want to keep it up. Sometimes it just clicks and happens; you have a run of games, and there’s nothing else to it.

“It’s given me a lot more freedom, allowing me to pick up the ball and do a lot more. I’ve had a good time every time I’ve played there.

“I wouldn’t say world class yet – I think I’ve got the potential to be but to hear [praise] from the manager is special for me,” he said.

“I still want to improve and want to be an even greater player. Doing that for a period of years earns you world-class status. I need to do it consistently in the most important games and moments.”

Foden is expecting to finish the season on a high as Manchester City pursues another treble, while also trying to make an impact on international duty with England at Euro 2024 this summer.
