Bobby Clark | Liverpool have announced that 18-year-old midfielder has signed a new contract with the club.

The former Newcastle United youth academy product joined the Reds in the summer of 2021 after leaving the Magpies’ youth academy, and he has since made two senior appearances under Jurgen Klopp.

Clark made his first-team debut for Liverpool in last August’s 9-0 Premier League demolition of Bournemouth, coming off the bench for the final seven minutes, before making his first start later that season in an EFL Cup third-round win over Derby County.

The midfielder hasn’t played for the Reds since, but he was on the bench for Wednesday’s 5-1 EFL Cup thrashing of West Ham United and is doing well at Under-21 level.

Clark has two goals and three assists in five 2023-24 Premier League 2 games, most recently scoring a 90th-minute winner in a 2-1 victory over Chelsea on Sunday.

Back in September, the 18-year-old earned his first two caps for England’s Under-19s, appearing in a second-half cameo in a friendly loss to Germany before playing 71 minutes on the left side in a 4-2 win over Switzerland.

Clark is the Reds’ second academy product to sign a contract extension this month, following full-back Conor Bradley, who committed his future to the club on December 1.

The versatile attacker signed a contract extension with the Reds, which began when he joined from Newcastle United in August 2021.

He signed his first professional contract six months after joining the club and made his senior LFC debut in August 2022, coming on as an 83rd-minute substitute in the 9-0 Anfield defeat of AFC Bournemouth.

Clark then made his first appearance for Jürgen Klopp in the Carabao Cup against Derby County in November.

After missing nearly two months due to injury, the 18-year-old returned to action for the U21s last weekend, scoring an excellent last-minute winner in a 2-1 win over Chelsea.

Clark was also in the senior squad for Wednesday’s Carabao Cup victory over West Ham United at Anfield.
