Fulham completes loan signing of Armando Broja

The 22-year-old will spend the rest of the season with his parent club’s West London rivals after signing a short-term contract at Craven Cottage.

Broja’s future was one of the big talking points on deadline day of the winter season, with Chelsea first believed to be holding out for a £50 million offer before changing their stance and declaring themselves available for loan agreements.

Wolverhampton Wanderers and Fulham FC were the front-runners for his signing, but Chelsea’s loan fee demands are thought to have driven Wolves out of the running.

Fulham won the race for his signing, and the transfer was completed more than 90 minutes after the deadline.

The Cottagers are said to have paid their neighbours a £4 million loan charge, though some speculate that this fee may be forgiven if Broja makes 10 or more starts during his tenure.

“It feels fantastic. “I’m overjoyed to be here and can’t wait to get started, meet the players and manager, and play for the fans,” Broja told the club’s official website.

“The fans always play an important role, and I’m excited to meet them all at Craven Cottage. I’m going to work hard for the team and build a strong bond.

“I’m really honoured and excited to be here.”

Tony Khan added, “I’m happy that we agreed to bring Broja to Fulham on loan until the end of the season.”

“He’s a young and talented striker who is happy and motivated to join our squad and to play for Marco [Silva] and his staff!”

Broja will wear the number nine shirt for Fulham and could make his Premier League debut against Burnley on Saturday at Turf Moor.
