The package also includes €2 million in add-ons. Moscardo will travel to Paris once the clubs have signed the formal agreement. Beraldo and Moscardo have agreed to join PSG.
PSG is the most likely destination for 18-year-old midfielder Gabriel Moscardo, according to Corinthians president Augusto Melo.
This development comes on the heels of recent reports indicating PSG’s interest in the young Brazilian talent, as well as reported offers made by the French champions to the Brazilian club to poach the wunderkind from his country and sign him as soon as possible.
Gabriel Moscardo nearing to join PSG
According to ESPN Brazil, Corinthians and PSG met on Tuesday evening to advance transfer talks, with both clubs committed to reaching an agreement this week.
PSG and Corinthians are said to have reached a €25 million agreement. The initial fee is €22 million, with bonuses totaling €3 million, raising the player’s potential final price.
The only outstanding issue is Moscardo’s claim to the transfer fee, which is reportedly set at 20% Corinthians’ side is negotiating with the player to have that clause waived so that all of the money goes to the club’s coffers.
Melo described Moscardo as “almost an amateur player with very little professional experience.” I wish he had stayed a little longer.”
The club’s main strategy, according to the president, is not to rely on young player sales as a primary source of income, though he acknowledged that Moscardo’s mind is already on PSG, saying, “Unfortunately, it’s the end of a cycle.”
“[Moscardo] already has his head elsewhere,” Melo said. We gave him the option of choosing. May he be content.”
With Moscardo’s transfer nearing completion, PSG is also nearing completion on the signing of fellow Brazilian and 20-year-old wunderkind Lucas Beraldo, whose natural position is in the center of the defense.
