Matheus Nunes suffers severe finger injury during Man City’s win over Copenhagen, as Pep Guardiola’s team suffers setback ahead of Liverpool match.

During Manchester City’s Champions League victory over Copenhagen, Matheus Nunes sustained a horrible finger injury, leaving viewers in shock.

The Portuguese international began the second leg of the last-16 tie, but his evening ended abruptly in the second half.

Nunes tripped and landed awkwardly on his hand, making it evident that something was really wrong.

However, supporters became highly alarmed when the television cameras got a close-up of the midfielder’s finger, which was entirely bent out of shape.

Pep Guardiola promptly signalled Micah Hamilton to prepare to replace him, which came as no surprise.

The horrifying photographs of the finger circulated on social media, with some claiming it was a break and others pointing to a dislocation.

It comes just days before City face Premier League leaders Liverpool in a massive showdown.

Holders City advanced to the last eight for the seventh consecutive season with a simple 3-1 victory at the Etihad.

City took the lead early on with goals from Manuel Akanji and Julian Alvarez, and the prolific Erling Haaland scored his 29th of the season as Pep Guardiola’s side won 6-2 on aggregate at the Etihad Stadium.

Copenhagen showed some fight and clawed one back through former Southampton midfielder Mohamed Elyounoussi, but there was never any question City would make it to the final eight.
