Sunrisers Hyderabad broke their own record for the highest total in IPL history in the same season.

Sunrisers Hyderabad smashed their own record on Monday by scoring the greatest total in the history of the Indian Premier League this season, creating history yet again.

The Orange squad scored 287 runs against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, breaking their previous record of 277 against the Mumbai Indians.

Interestingly, this year’s IPL has produced three of the eight greatest totals in men’s T20 history: 287-3 today, 277-3 by Sunrisers Hyderabad, and 272-7 by Kolkata Knight Riders.

SRH openers Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head got the team off to a good start, scoring 108 runs and putting on a spectacular show at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.

The Australian opener also scored the IPL’s fourth-fastest century and the fastest for the Hyderabad franchise.

However, Reece Topley dismissed Sharma for 34 runs, giving RCB a breakthrough.

Heinrich Klaasen resumed his power-hitting streak, scoring 67 runs in just 31 runs, including seven sixes.

Towards the finish, Abdul Samad proceeded to thrash the RCB bowlers, scoring 37 runs in only 10 balls, including four fours and three sixes, at a strike rate of 370.

RCB captain Faf du Plessis won the toss and chose to bowl against SRH. Glenn Maxwell, a hard-hitting hitter, and bowler Mohammed Siraj were left out of the starting lineup.

Pat Cummins, the skipper of SRH, fielded an unchanged lineup.
